Azores - D. Maria I (1786-1799) - XX/XX Réis 1798; copper; This coin was an experiment/trial for a coin of the Azores during the reign of D. Maria I, nowadays much sought-after and extremely rare. There were, at first, some trials on copper modules that we presume were the exemplars "restriked" and that were later stroke on their own modules. From each of these, there are very few known exemplars, making them extremely rare. Similarly, the study for the trials of the Gold 5 Escudos 1920, which were restriked on 5000 Réis of D. Luís I (3 exemplares known); G.E2.02; Choice Extremely Fine
